The 500/2 Club Bass was introduced in 1964 as an alternative to the increasingly popular 500/1 Violin Bass. It was aimed at players who wanted the unique Höfner bass sound but who didn't want to look like Paul McCartney! The body had been in production since 1954 but only as a guitar. It was a fairly simple production decision to put the Violin Bass neck into a Club body and create a new product. The 500/2 Club bass today is still built in exactly the same way as in 1964 and uses the same components.
Many
prefer the 500/2 Club Bass to the 500/1 Violin Bass as it offers a
bigger body but produces almost identical tones - the legendary Höfner
bottom end thump. With a fully hollow body and short scale (30") neck it
is a light and easy bass to play. Available in Ignition, Contemporary
and German built versions along with Gold Label instruments it remains a
popular bass for those wanting that distinctive vintage sound. The
Ignition (HI) series offers you the chance to own a piece of history
even on a tight budget. This model has a fully hollow body combined with
Höfner 70's style 'staple' pick-ups to give the authentic Höfner sound.
It is of course fitted with the famous Höfner control panel, this has
on/off for each pick-up, solo/rhythm switch and individual volume
controls. Lightweight and with its short scale (30") neck it is a
pleasure to play, even for hours without getting back-ache and fatigue.
This bass comes at the perfect price point for players requiring the

Igazi retro hangszer. Hangzásban és külsőben. Szép testes, telt hang. Kist test, rövidebb nyak. Kényelmes használni. A kapcsoló szokatlan, de működik.

Tahle basová kytara je ve své kategorii skvělým nástrojem. Nádherný kousek s originálním a velice uhrančivým zvukem. Jsem z ní nadšená! Za ty peníze je to opravdu malý zázrak :-)

I have several basses that I play but recently I had to go into hospital for an operation so I needed a light bass to play. This really did fill the gap as it is the lightest bass I have ever played and still kept its lovely deep bass sound. Also it does not suffer with neck dive. The most impressive thing about buying this bass was the great service I received from Muziker. It was delivered within three days of ordering and well packed. I would recommend this company to all my friends.
