The Moody Blues

The Moody Blues

The Moody Blues were an influential English rock band formed in Birmingham in 1964. Originally part of the British beat and R and B scene, they first gained widespread attention with the hit single Go Now. After lineup changes in 1966, the addition of Justin Hayward and John Lodge helped steer the band toward a progressive rock and psychedelic sound. Their second album, Days of Future Passed, became a landmark release, blending rock with classical music and establishing them as pioneers of art rock. Throughout the late 1960s and early 1970s, the Moody Blues released acclaimed albums such as In Search of the Lost Chord, A Question of Balance, and Seventh Sojourn, producing iconic songs like Nights in White Satin, Tuesday Afternoon, and Question. In the 1980s, they adapted to a more synth-driven pop sound with hits like Your Wildest Dreams and I Know You're Out There Somewhere. With global album sales exceeding 70 million and a legacy that includes 18 platinum and gold records, the Moody Blues left a lasting impact on popular music. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018.
