Throughout their history, Tangerine Dream has undergone several changes in membership, with Froese remaining at the core until his passing in 2015. The band is renowned for their work during the "Virgin Years," when they released critically acclaimed albums like Phaedra and Rubycon, solidifying their legacy in the development of electronic and cinematic music. Tangerine Dream has also composed over sixty film soundtracks, making a significant impact on both the music and movie industries. Since 2015, leadership has passed to Thorsten Quaeschning, who is joined by Hoshiko Yamane and Paul Frick. Previous notable members include Johannes Schmoelling and Ulrich Schnauss. Tangerine Dream’s extensive catalog spans over one hundred albums, displaying a constant evolution of sound and style. Recent releases include Quantum Gate, Recurring Dreams, and Raum. Their influence is widely recognized in genres such as new-age, ambient, and electronic dance music.
