Cracking varnish. Using Cracking Varnishes, you can create an authentic antique surface with a natural craquelé effect. This effect simulates the fine cracks formed over time due to ageing. The process relies on a chemical reaction between the two varnishes to produce a distinctive cracked pattern.

Suitable for a variety of surfaces such as cardboard, wood, and artworks painted with acrylic, alkyd, or oil paints, the technique involves applying Cracking Varnish 1 first, allowing it to become moist but not tacky (waiting 1.5–4 hours depending on desired crack size). Then apply Cracking Varnish 2 in the opposite direction and allow 3–4 hours for fine cracks to develop.
