John Anthony White, born July 9, 1975, is an acclaimed American musician best known as the guitarist and lead singer of the White Stripes. After gaining worldwide recognition with the White Stripes’ hit album White Blood Cells and the single Fell in Love with a Girl, White went on to collaborate with major artists such as Loretta Lynn and Bob Dylan. He later founded the bands the Raconteurs and the Dead Weather and recorded the James Bond theme for Quantum of Solace with Alicia Keys. As a solo artist, White has released six highly praised albums and achieved significant commercial success. He is also the founder of Third Man Records, known for its dedication to analog recording and vinyl releases. White’s second solo album, Lazaretto, set a record for vinyl sales in its first week. Renowned for his unique style, love of vintage instruments, and advocacy for analog technology, White has played a major role in the garage rock revival. He has won twelve Grammy Awards and has been named among the greatest guitarists of all time by Rolling Stone. In 2025, he will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as part of the White Stripes.
