Death Cab for Cutie is an American rock band formed in 1997 in Bellingham, Washington. Known for their blend of indie rock, indie pop, and alternative rock, the group began as Ben Gibbard’s solo project before expanding into a full band. The current lineup features Ben Gibbard, Nick Harmer, Dave Depper, Zac Rae, and Jason McGerr. Their breakthrough album, Transatlanticism, gained widespread acclaim in 2003, with tracks featured in popular films and TV shows. In 2005, their major label debut Plans achieved platinum status. The band name comes from a song by the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band. Death Cab for Cutie has released ten studio albums, including Asphalt Meadows in 2022, and is regarded as one of the defining indie bands of the 2000s and 2010s.
