Robert Keith McFerrin Jr., born March 11, 1950, is an influential American singer, songwriter, and conductor known for his innovative vocal techniques, including rapid pitch jumps, scat singing, polyphonic overtone singing, and vocal percussion. Renowned for performing solo a cappella, he often collaborates with leading figures from both jazz and classical music. His song "Don't Worry, Be Happy" became the first a cappella track to reach number one in the US and won top Grammy Awards in 1989. McFerrin has also recorded with acclaimed artists such as Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Joe Zawinul, Tony Williams, and Yo-Yo Ma.
