Designed for jazz, intimate venues, and all-around second-kit use, the SBP8F3 Stage Custom BeBop Set is a compact 3-piece shell configuration centred around an 18-inch bass drum. Built with the same 100% birch, six-ply shells as the full Stage Custom lineup, the BeBop Set delivers the complete Stage Custom sound experience in a significantly reduced footprint.

Bop Configuration

The shell set consists of an 18-inch bass drum, a 14-inch floor tom, and a 12-inch hanging tom. This bop-style layout is optimised for smaller stages and recording sessions where a compact setup is required without sacrificing tonal quality or projection.

Coated Heads Included

The hanging tom and floor tom are factory-fitted with coated heads, which provide a slightly warmer, more controlled tone compared to clear heads. This is particularly well suited to jazz and light session playing styles.

100% Birch Shell Construction

All three shells use 100% birch in a six-ply configuration, delivering the short decay, quick attack, and tight sound with good separation that define the Stage Custom sound. The six-ply structure accurately transmits vibrations from the impact surface, ensuring consistent response across all shell sizes.

Y.E.S.S. Tom Mounting

The Yamaha Enhanced Sustain System mounts hardware at the nodal point of each tom, minimising interference with shell vibration. Combined with nylon bushing rod clamps, this allows the toms to deliver wide open sustain while remaining stable under firm playing.

Ball Mount and Clamp

The original Yamaha ball mount and clamp system holds the hanging tom at any chosen angle with non-slip stability, using a large ultra-hard resin ball secured by a titanium ergonomic wing bolt. Bottom head tuning is possible by simply rotating the drum without removing the mount.

Hardware Details

Die-cast claw hooks with rubber insertion plates reduce noise from the bass drum hoops. Bass drum legs equipped with stoppers ensure the kit remains in position throughout the performance.
