Planar Magnetic Wireless Headphones for Audiophile Listening

The Edifier STAX SPIRIT S5 Black is a wireless planar magnetic headphone engineered for listeners who want studio-grade detail without a cable. A 2μm ultra-thin diaphragm with 2nd-generation EqualMass™ wiring delivers transient response approaching electrostatic-class performance. Bluetooth 5.4 with Snapdragon Sound and the full LDAC, LHDC, aptX Lossless, and aptX Adaptive codec stack streams up to 24-bit/96kHz at 1.2 Mbps.

What Sets the STAX SPIRIT S5 Apart

Each planar magnetic driver is individually auto-calibrated against a golden reference sample during production, so every unit matches the designer's intent. The 2nd-gen EqualMass™ symmetric wiring keeps driving force uniform across the diaphragm, reducing harmonic distortion to near zero. A Qualcomm QCC5181 SoC drives the wireless pipeline, with an 89ms low-latency game mode for gaming.

Technical Specifications

Wired listening runs through 3.5mm AUX and USB-C audio inputs, with a 3.5mm-to-6.35mm adapter included. The package ships with a hard travel case, USB-C charging cable, and cooling-mesh earpads alongside the fitted lambskin pair. Closed-back architecture, 10Hz–40kHz frequency response, and 94 ± 3 dB(A) SPL give this model a wide, controlled soundstage.

• The closed-back over-ear construction provides passive isolation for private listening.
• Frequency Response: 10Hz–40kHz — extends well beyond the audible range for Hi-Res detail
• Bluetooth: V5.4 with A2DP, AVRCP, HFP — stable multipoint pairing across two devices
• Battery Life: Around 80 hours from a 1500mAh cell — multi-day use per charge
• Net Weight: 347 g — light enough for extended wear with the lambskin pads

Who Should Choose the STAX SPIRIT S5

The S5 is the right choice for listeners who want planar magnetic clarity with wireless freedom. Audiophiles streaming LDAC or aptX Lossless from a Snapdragon Sound-compatible phone, hybrid workers juggling a laptop and phone via multipoint, and gamers who value the 89ms low-latency mode will all find a fit. Travelers also benefit from 80 hours of battery life and the included cooling-mesh pads for warmer climates.

Edifier and the STAX Spirit Line

The manufacturer developed the STAX SPIRIT line as a tribute to the legendary STAX electrostatic heritage, applying planar magnetic engineering to a portable wireless form factor. The 2nd-generation EqualMass™ wiring is protected under Patent No. PCT/CN2021/124329, and it represents the current flagship of that lineage.
