D'Addario NYXL .078 Single Electric Guitar String

The D'Addario NYXL .078 is a single replacement string designed for electric guitar players who want the punch and tuning stability of the NYXL series in a specific gauge. Built with reformulated nickel-plated steel wrap wire wound around a hexagonal steel core, this round-wound string delivers enhanced mid-range frequency response with more presence and crunch to cut through a dense mix. It works equally well as a replacement for a broken heavy-gauge string or as a building block for a fully customized set tailored to a player's preferred tension and feel. The .078 gauge is a common choice for the low E or A position on a 7-string guitar, or as the heaviest string in a baritone setup.

Who It's For

The NYXL .078 single is the right choice for electric guitar players who need a heavy-gauge replacement string with enhanced tuning stability and break resistance. It suits rock, metal, and blues players who tune to standard or drop tunings and want a string that holds pitch through aggressive bending and heavy picking. The single-string format also makes it ideal for players building custom sets with non-standard gauges, or for anyone who needs to replace one worn or broken string without buying a full set. Designed, engineered, and manufactured in the USA at D'Addario's New York production facility, this string delivers consistent quality for gigging musicians and home players alike.
