Audio-Technica U851RbO Gränsmikrofon

The U851RbO is an omnidirectional boundary condenser microphone in a low-profile black housing, intended for permanent installation on conference tables, stage floors, and instrument surfaces where coverage from all horizontal directions is required. The boundary mounting position exploits reflective surface reinforcement to provide extended bass response and consistent sensitivity across a hemispherical pickup area.

Omnidirectional Coverage

The omnidirectional polar pattern of the U851RbO captures sound equally from all horizontal directions within the hemisphere above the mounting surface. This makes it particularly effective for conference applications where multiple participants surround the table, ensuring each voice is picked up with comparable level and tonal balance regardless of seating position.

Surface Mount and Boundary Effect

When mounted flush to a hard surface, the U851RbO benefits from boundary effect reinforcement, gaining up to 6 dB in sensitivity compared to free-field operation. The integrated low-profile base sits at only 16 mm above the mounting surface, minimizing visual intrusion in formal meeting environments.

Phantom Power and Installation

Operating on 11–52V phantom power, the U851RbO connects via a permanently attached XLR cable suitable for routing through table-top cable channels and cable management systems in fixed AV installations.
