Fender Squier Classic Vibe '70s Jazz Bass MN Black 4-strängad basgitarr

Squier Classic Vibe '70s Jazz Bass MN Black — Vintage J Bass Tone, Modern Playability

The Squier Classic Vibe '70s Jazz Bass MN Black channels the look, feel, and tone of the 1970s J Bass into an accessible 4-string electric bass. Inspired by the 1970s evolution of the J Bass®, this model pairs vintage aesthetics with player-friendly modern touches. Built around a poplar body and maple neck with maple fingerboard, the instrument delivers the offset-honeycomb silhouette that defined an era of bass playing.

What Makes This Squier Stand Out

What sets this model apart is the pairing of Fender-Designed alnico single-coil pickups with '70s spacing — a configuration that gives the instrument its punchy, articulate voice. The vintage-tint gloss urethane neck finish, black binding, and black block position inlays reproduce the look of mid-1970s Fender Jazz Basses. A 4-saddle vintage-style bridge with slotted barrel saddles anchors the strings with rock-solid stability.

Body Construction — Lightweight Poplar With Stage-Ready Finish

Body construction shapes what players feel under the strap. The poplar body keeps the weight manageable while delivering a balanced foundation for the dual single-coil pickups. A gloss polyurethane finish protects the surface and adds a clean sheen that holds up to regular gigging.

• Body Material: Poplar — lightweight tonewood that supports a focused low end
• Body Finish: Gloss Polyurethane — durable coating that resists wear from playing and transport
• Pickguard: 3-Ply Black — period-correct contrast against the black body

Neck & Playability — Slim "C" Profile Built for Long Sessions

The neck profile and fingerboard geometry determine how the bass feels during long sessions. A slim "C"-shaped maple neck offers a comfortable grip, while the 9.5" radius maple fingerboard supports easy bending across all 20 frets.

• Neck Material: Maple — bright tonal character with a snappy attack
• Fingerboard Material: Maple — smooth playing surface
• Fingerboard Radius: 241 mm — modern curve that flatters chord work and lead lines
• Neck Shape: "C" Shape — slim profile suited to a wide range of hand sizes

Electronics & Hardware — Classic J Bass Voice, Vintage Appointments

The electronics package is where this bass earns its reputation. Fender-Designed alnico single-coil pickups in both neck and bridge positions deliver the classic J Bass growl, controlled through a Volume 1, Volume 2, and Master Tone layout.

• Pickup Configuration: SS (dual single-coil) — classic J Bass layout for articulate, growling tone
• Bridge: 4-Saddle Vintage-Style with Slotted Barrel Saddles — solid string stability and period-correct looks
• Scale Length: 864 mm — standard J Bass scale for tight, defined low-end response
• Hardware Finish: Nickel-Plated — deep, rich throwback appearance

Who Is This Bass For — Intermediate Players Seeking '70s J Bass Character

The Squier Classic Vibe '70s Jazz Bass MN Black is the right choice for intermediate and advancing bassists who want authentic '70s J Bass tone without the price tag of a vintage reissue. Players moving up from a beginner instrument will appreciate the slim "C" neck and forgiving 9.5" fingerboard radius. Gigging musicians benefit from the straightforward Volume/Volume/Tone layout and dependable vintage-style bridge. Studio players chasing funk, rock, and soul tones will hear the articulate vintage growl that defines the J Bass sound.
