SX SJB62/5 3-Tone Sunburst 5-strängad basgitarr

5-String J-Bass with Classic Tone and Vintage Styling

The SX SJB62/5-3TS is a 5-string J-bass that brings the iconic offset-waist styling and punchy midrange of the classic J-bass into a price bracket accessible to working players and students. Built around a lightweight Basswood body finished in a polished 3-Tone Sunburst, this instrument pairs a bolt-on Maple neck with a Rosewood fretboard for the warm, articulate response that has defined the J-bass sound. This model is the right choice for players who want reliable traditional tone and a gig-ready package straight out of the box.

What Sets This 5-String J-Bass Apart

The SJB62/5 pairs two ceramic single-coil J-style pickups in a classic JJ configuration with a passive circuit and a 5-saddle Vintage Style bridge for a familiar, no-nonsense tonal palette. The Dual Action truss rod, accessible through the headstock, lets players dial in relief to suit their preferred string gauge without removing the neck.

Body Construction — Lightweight Basswood with Classic J-Bass Shape

The SJB62/5's Basswood body is light on the shoulder during long sets and contributes a balanced tonal character with a slight scoop in the low mids that lets the upper strings sit forward in a mix. A flat top construction keeps the weight low and the resonance focused, while dual cutaways keep the upper frets within easy reach for solo work on the B string.

• Body Material: Basswood — light weight and balanced response across the frequency range
• Top Material: None (flat top) — keeps weight down and resonance focused
• Finish: Polished 3-Tone Sunburst — high-gloss surface that protects the wood and showcases the grain

Neck & Fretboard — Bolt-On Maple with Smooth Rosewood Playing Surface

The SJB62/5's bolt-on Maple neck with a C profile offers the snappy attack and bright top-end character that complements the warm body tone. The Rosewood fretboard adds warmth and a smooth feel under the fingers, while the 305 mm radius and 20 medium frets support comfortable bending across all five strings.

• Scale Length: 864 mm (34") — standard long-scale tension for tight B-string response
• Nut Width: 44 mm (1 3/4") — comfortable width for players transitioning from a 4-string
• Fingerboard Radius: 305 mm (12") — flatter modern feel for low-action setups

Electronics & Hardware — Passive J Pickups with Vintage-Style Controls

The SJB62/5's passive electronics keep the signal path simple and true to the original J-bass character, while the two volume controls and master tone knob give players immediate access to pickup blending. Open Gear tuners and the 5-saddle Vintage Style bridge provide stable tuning and accurate intonation across the fretboard.

• Pickup Configuration: JJ (two ceramic single-coil J-style pickups) — full-range response from warm neck position to punchy bridge
• Controls: 2x Volume, Master Tone — independent pickup blending with overall tone shaping
• Bridge: 5-Saddle Vintage Style — individual string intonation for accurate tuning across the neck

Who the SX SJB62/5-3TS Is Built For

The SX SJB62/5-3TS is the right choice for beginner and intermediate bass players who want a full-size 5-string J-bass with traditional tone and comfortable playability. The 44 mm nut width and standard 864 mm scale make it a natural step up for 4-string players adding the low B without a dramatic change in feel. Home studio players benefit from the passive JJ pickup configuration, which records cleanly through any amp sim or audio interface without battery-powered onboard EQ. The included gig bag means the instrument is ready for rehearsal or lesson from the moment it arrives.
