Prominy V-METAL 2 (Digital produkt)
Prominy V-METAL 2 is a virtual electric guitar instrument designed to reproduce the aggressive, high-gain sound of a modern metal guitar. It is based on the tone and characteristics of an ESP Alexi-style guitar equipped with EMG pickups, recorded in great detail for realistic performance inside a DAW.
Sound Library and Sampling
V-METAL 2 contains tens of thousands of high-resolution samples, capturing every nuance of the guitar. The library is approximately 22 GB in size and includes a wide range of notes, including extended low-tuned samples suitable for heavy metal and related genres. All samples are recorded dry, giving users freedom to shape their tone using their preferred amp simulators and effects.
Performance Engine
The instrument uses Prominy’s Super Performance Multi (SPM) engine, which allows real-time interpretation of playing style. The engine automatically handles downstrokes, upstrokes, legato transitions, and other performance details based on your MIDI input. Key-switches are available for manually choosing articulations when needed.
Articulations and Playing Techniques
V-METAL 2 provides an extensive set of articulations to achieve realistic guitar performances. These include:
Single-note picking
Power chords and sampled two-string chords
Full chords and extended chord types
Hammer-on and pull-off
Legato slides
Unison bends and double bends
Natural and pinch harmonics
Palm muting with multiple intensities
Tremolo picking
Vibrato
Whammy-bar expressions
Finger and pick noises, fret noise, and release noises for realism
Double-Tracking
The instrument includes double-tracking capability, allowing the user to play one MIDI part and generate a natural left-right stereo guitar effect commonly used in metal production.
Use Cases
V-METAL 2 is suitable for metal, rock, and other genres requiring heavy, tight, or aggressive guitar tones. Its detailed sampling and advanced performance engine make it useful for songwriting, demo production, full production environments, and scenarios where live guitar recording is unavailable.
Considerations
Because samples are provided dry, a guitar amp simulator or effects chain is required to achieve a finished distorted tone. While extremely realistic, the best results often come from thoughtful MIDI programming and mixing to match the expressiveness of a live guitarist.
