Line6 DL4 MkII Gitarreffekt
The Line 6 DL4 MkII is a delay modeler pedal that packs 30 delay algorithms, 15 reverb engines, and a 240-second looper into a single cast-aluminum stompbox. It adds an XLR microphone input, full MIDI In/Out/Thru, USB-C, and a microSD slot to the original version's familiar knob-and-footswitch layout.
- 30 delay models including 15 HX-derived algorithms, the 14 original DL4 sounds, and the Echo Platter from the Echo Pro rack unit
- 15 reverb algorithms accessed via the Alt/Legacy button, routable before, after, or parallel to the delay
- A 1-switch and 4-switch looper are included with up to 240 seconds of mono record time, which is expandable to hours via microSD.
- XLR mic input with Trim control, MIDI In/Out/Thru, USB-C, and switchable true/buffered/DSP bypass
Line 6 DL4 MkII Delay Modeler — 30 Delays, 15 Reverbs, and a 240-Second Looper in One Stompbox
The Line 6 DL4 MkII is the second-generation version of the legendary green delay modeler that has lived on arena pedalboards since 1999. This pedal combines a 30-algorithm delay engine, a 15-model reverb section, and a stereo-capable looper in a single cast-aluminum chassis. The DL4 MkII keeps the original's knob and footswitch layout so existing players can switch over without relearning the interface.
What Sets the DL4 MkII Apart from Other Delay Pedals
Unlike most delay pedals that ship with a handful of modes, this unit layers 15 new MkII delays drawn from the Line 6 HX family of processors on top of all 14 original DL4 algorithms plus the Binson-inspired Echo Platter from the rackmount Echo Pro. A second bank of 15 reverb algorithms is unlocked through the Alt/Legacy button, with routing options for before, after, or parallel to the delay. The XLR microphone input with its own Trim control is rare on a delay pedal and lets vocalists and acoustic players run straight into the loop section without external converters.
Delay Engine — Algorithms and Routing
The delay section is the heart of the pedal, and the breadth of models means a player can cover tape echo, digital, analog, multi-head, glitch, and harmonic textures from one unit. The Tweak and Tweez knobs are reassigned per algorithm, giving meaningful parameter control without menu diving.
- Total Delay Algorithms: 30 — 15 HX-derived MkII delays, 14 original DL4 sounds, plus Echo Platter
- Reverb Algorithms: 15 — Room, Plate, Chamber, Spring, Glitz, Particle Verb, and more, accessed via Alt/Legacy
- Controls: Model Select, Time/Subdiv, Repeats, Tweak, Tweez, Mix, Footswitches A/B/C, Tap — full hands-on control with no menu scrolling
Looper — Recording Time and Connectivity
The looper has been upgraded from the original 28-second limit to 240 seconds of mono recording, or 120 seconds in stereo, with a microSD card slot pushing total time into hours and allowing loops to persist across power cycles. Both a 1-switch and a 4-switch looper mode are included, and the loop can sit before or after other effects in the signal chain.
- Looper Modes: 1-Switch and 4-Switch Classic Looper — operate in mono or stereo, positionable pre or post effects
- Max Recording Time: 240 s mono / 120 s stereo — expandable to several hours via microSD
- Half-Speed and Reverse: Tap footswitch — engage on the fly during performance
I/O, MIDI, and Bypass — Studio and Stage Integration
Connectivity is where the MkII pulls ahead of the original. MIDI In and Out/Thru DIN connectors handle continuous controller, program change, and MIDI Clock messages, with up to 128 MIDI-selectable presets stored onboard. The XLR input accepts a dynamic microphone for vocal processing, while USB-C handles firmware updates and MIDI control from a computer.
- Inputs: 6.3 mm jack L/Mono + Right, XLR mic with Trim, MIDI IN, Expression Pedal / dual footswitch
- Outputs: 6.3 mm jack L/Mono + Right, MIDI OUT/THRU, USB-C
- Bypass Options: Switchable true bypass, buffered bypass, or DSP bypass — with switchable analog/digital dry-through and trails
- Power: 9V DC center-negative, 500 mA — included adapter, no battery operation
- Dimensions: 234 x 114 x 50 mm — smaller and lighter than the original DL4
