Janelle Monáe Robinson, born December 1, 1985, is an American singer, songwriter, rapper, and actress recognized for her inventive approach to music and performance. Monáe first gained attention with her 2007 debut EP Metropolis and her acclaimed debut album The ArchAndroid in 2010.
