Wilco is a Chicago-based rock band formed in 1994 by members of the former alt-country group Uncle Tupelo. The core of the band, singer Jeff Tweedy and bassist John Stirratt, have remained since its start, while the current lineup—established in 2004—includes Nels Cline, Pat Sansone, Mikael Jorgensen, and Glenn Kotche. Wilco blends influences from artists like Bill Fay, the Beatles, and Television, evolving their sound from country rock beginnings to an eclectic, genre-spanning indie rock style. Known for their creative experimentation, Wilco has released thirteen studio albums, several collaborations, and a live double album. Their 2001 release Yankee Hotel Foxtrot drew significant attention after being famously rejected by their label, later achieving critical and commercial success. The band won two Grammy Awards for their album A Ghost Is Born, and continues to be highly regarded for their innovative approach to rock music, with their latest album Cousin released in 2023.
