Native Instruments Kontrol S61 Mk3 — Smart MIDI Controller with Polyphonic Aftertouch

The Native Instruments Kontrol S61 Mk3 is a 61-key smart MIDI controller engineered to bridge hardware and software in one studio hub. Built around an industry-leading Fatar semi-weighted keybed with polyphonic aftertouch on every key, it pairs MIDI 2.0 readiness with deep NKS 2 and Kontakt 7 integration. The Kontrol S61 Mk3 is the right choice for producers who want hands-on control of virtual instruments and their DAW from a single surface.

Polyphonic Aftertouch and NKS 2 Integration

Polyphonic aftertouch on every key sets this controller apart in its tier, capturing per-note pressure for cutoff, vibrato, and pitch. Next-generation NKS 2 delivers grouped parameter browsing, descriptive icons, and immersive visuals across thousands of instruments from NI, Arturia, Korg, Spitfire, and u-he.

Keybed and Performance — Expressive Playing Surface

The keybed is the heart of any master keyboard, and this one translates finger pressure directly into sound. Semi-weighted action suits synth leads and pads, while polyphonic aftertouch opens per-note modulation monophonic systems cannot match.

• Keys Number: 61 — five-octave range covers most contemporary keyboard parts
• Keyboard type: Semi-weighted — balanced resistance for synth and piano playing styles
• Pitch bend: Yes — illuminated pitch wheel for expressive bends

Controls and Display — Hands-On Parameter Access

Eight rotary encoders, a 4D push encoder, and a high-resolution glass display give immediate access to instrument parameters without leaving the keys. The Light Guide above each key highlights scales, zones, and chord positions in real time.

• Display: 1280 x 480 full-color glass screen — clear parameter feedback and plugin browsing
• Encoders: 8 rotary + 1 x 4D push encoder — touch-sensitive anodized aluminum caps for precision tweaking
• Light Guide: RGB LEDs above each key — visual feedback for scales, switches, and drum cells

Connectivity and Software — Studio Hub Integration

USB-C handles bus power and MIDI over USB, while 5-pin DIN ports route polyphonic aftertouch to compatible hardware. The bundled Komplete 15 Select, Komplete Kontrol, and partner titles make the unit production-ready out of the box.

• Inputs: MIDI IN, Sustain Pedal, Expression Pedal, Control Pedal — four assignable 1/4" TRS jacks plus MIDI in
• Outputs: MIDI OUT, USB to host — 5-pin DIN MIDI out and USB-C MIDI for DAW connection
• Package Content: USB Cable, Manual — bus-powered via included USB-C cable, no separate PSU needed
